In autumn, I shot Alex and Beth’s wedding at Hedsor House, as an associate wedding photographer for Robin + Andie Weddings. This was a truly unique day, from the pair’s outfits, through to their modern styling. Settle in for a gorgeous gallery!
Hedsor House wedding venue
Hedsor House is a luxury Georgian mansion in Buckinghamshire. Set in 100 acres of parkland, it’s a truly stunning elegant wedding venue.
This large wedding venue can hold up to 150 guests, and more for the evening! When you hire Hedsor House wedding venue, the house and grounds will be exclusively yours.
A bridal suite of dreams
Hedsor House has 13 luxury bedrooms, with the bridal suite being one of the most luxurious in the country! The suite’s got a four poster bed, incredible symmetrical marble bathroom and a bridal dressing room. This room is just the perfect space for bridal prep photos! It’s light and bright, and has plenty of room for your bridal gang.
Bride and groom outfits with a twist
I can’t even put in to words how great Beth’s dress was! 2 years in the making and totally bespoke, this was a truly knockout number. Beth’s grand train is one of the reasons they had to book a grand venue to match!
Beth accessorised with Vivienne Westwood shoes and an adorable bow headpiece with pin up curls.
I knew Beth’s dress would stand out really well in the bridal suite, so we spent 5 minutes getting some portraits before she headed downstairs for the ceremony. I always shoot individual portraits later in the day as well, as I know my couples put so much time into choosing their outfits. Scroll down to see these in the walled garden!
Without a doubt, we need to take a second to talk about Alex’s equally awesome outfit! His suit was also bespoke, with embroidered patches for the wedding, including the pair’s initials. All the details were really thought through, from lightening cuff links to Alex’s matching socks.
The elegant staircase at Hedsor makes the best spot for some grand photos of THE dress and that train!
Wedding ceremonies at Hedsor House
There are two ceremony locations within the grounds. Within the Georgian mansion, is the iconic Grand Ballroom with the well known balcony view. But, just 300m walk from the main house is an equally pretty medieval church.
Beth and Alex married in the ballroom with a modern floral arch at the top of the aisle. Candles and flowers in vases adorned the fireplaces, adding extra cute little details.
I ALWAYS love it when couples write their own vows, which is exactly what Beth and Alex did. It always makes me well up and there were a lot of emotional faces in the crowd!
Wedding portraits at Hedsor House
Hedsor’s interior is striking enough, but the grounds are just as lovely! On one side, are the lawns with a view of the Buckinghamshire countryside. I love playing with greenery, and this huge tree was my first choice for portraits with Beth and Alex.
On the other side of the house is a quaint walled sunken garden. This was a glorious quiet spot away from the drinks reception.
Couples portraits are a really important time for you to have some alone time, enjoying the moment and the day. I typically take couples for a short walk around the venue, choosing different backdrop spots for very relaxed photos.
A dog inspired wedding breakfast
Alex and Beth picked the best theme for their wedding breakfast – dogs! Each table was named after a different type of pup, and one of their friends made the centrepieces for them. Each one featured a tattoo either Beth or Alex has.
Additionally, the floral arch from the ceremony was moved to the top table to add a beautiful background.
Wedding party in the grand ballroom
After the wedding breakfast and speeches, everyone moved back into the ballroom which had been decked out for the party. A photobooth, DJ … and a surprise burlesque performance were part of the evening entertainment ! In addition, Alex sang Elton John to Beth for a first dance surprise. As far as wedding parties go this was an exceptional one!
On the whole, as a wedding photographer, Hedsor House is easily one of the best venues I’ve shot at!
