I’m a wedding photographer that’s recently moved from London to the north, so when I stumbled upon the Dalton Old Pump House on social media, I knew I had to see it! This week, they held their winter open evening, so I headed down to see it in all it’s festive glory. If you’re scouting for a unique northeast wedding venue, this one’s a top contender.
I’d visited the venue a few weeks back, but witnessing it all dolled up for Christmas and winter weddings, it had a whole new level of charm. It’s unbelievably cozy, and if anything, it’s even more captivating on a winter’s night!
The history of the Dalton Old Pump House
Let’s delve into the history of this fantastic place. Dalton Old Pump House, a remarkable grade II building, has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind wedding venue in the north east! The owners have recently restored it, but beautifully preserved numerous original features. It’s the kind of place that takes your breath away the moment you step inside.
Unique wedding ceremonies in the Engine Room
The Engine room is the main space for ceremonies, but if you’re getting married in summer, you could also use the elegant Terrace space. The Engine Room is a large ceremony space, holding 124 people. Trust me, it’s one of the most breathtaking ceremony spaces I’ve laid eyes on! Walking down that aisle and the photos of it would be a dream! And with the mezzanine, having a second photographer capturing the ceremony from above? Genius!
Wedding receptions at the Old Dalton Pump House
The Boiler Room, or party palace as it’s described on their website is the cherry on top for this venue! You make your entrance through a grand staircase and step into this vast, high-ceilinged room adorned with countless chandeliers. Seriously, those chandeliers grab your attention every single time. The space holds a whopping 250 guests for a wedding breakfast and can then be transformed into your party space. And oh, the party photos you can capture here? Absolutely mind-blowing! It is a wedding photographer’s dream!
Creative wedding photography at the pump house
In conclusion, the Dalton Old Pump House is a gem for wedding photography! As well as all the original features and the chandeliers, it just has so many little nooks which would make amazing photo backdrops. I love it so much I’m offering 10% off any 2024 wedding there.
