If you’re looking for somewhere to host your cosy, autumnal wedding let me introduce Woolas Barn wedding venue! This charming barn, nestled in the Yorkshire countryside, has a relaxed feel and gorgeous surroundings that come alive as the leaves start to turn. With warm, rustic spaces and beautiful spots for photos, it’s a venue that really makes the most of the season’s colours and light. Today I’m going to share why this is the perfect spot for a cosy seasonal wedding.
Rustic barn wedding venue in the heart of Yorkshire
The first reason why I love Woolas Barn is the location! You’ll find this wedding venue just 20 minutes outside of York, out in the lovely countryside of the dales. Originally built in 1863, Woolas Barn embraces a true Yorkshire barn atmosphere, with exposed beams, original brickwork, and cosy rustic details.
It’s still a working farm, set within 500 acres and is a family run venue. Although compact and cute, this barn has 3 indoor areas to host your whole wedding day.
Have a candle lit wedding ceremony at Woolas Barn
The Stables is licensed for a civil ceremony and as the name suggests was once a stables for the horses. It’s retained all the rustic loveliness and this makes it the perfect room for an intimate, cosy ceremony. I am genuinely obsessed with this as a candle lit wedding venue for a winter celebration. Just look at it!
Inviting wedding reception in The Lambing Shed
The Lambing Shed is the dining space within Woolas Barn wedding venue. It has exposed brickwork and beams which just add to the whole warm feeling of the setting. It seats 120 for dinner so plenty of space for all your friends and family! You can make this into a really boho space with pampas, like The Taals did, or fully embrace autumn with seasonal foliage.
Woolas Barn wedding venue and autumnal wedding portraits
From the barn’s interior to the scenic grounds, Woolas Barn has plenty of photo spots. Autumn only feels like it brings out the grounds even more, as the colours are vibrant and the barn blends in perfectly. The driveway is a fab location to take 10 minutes of quiet time with me and get some couples photos.
The Courtyard is a perfect spot right outside the barn for a cosy fire pit and marshmallows, plus it’s ideal for group photos. With views over the Yorkshire countryside and the option to use the barn itself as a backdrop, it adds a lot of charm to your shots.
So, what do you think? Is Woolas Barn the perfect cosy wedding venue for an autumn or winter wedding? For me, the barn’s ambient lighting and natural textures create the perfect, inviting atmosphere. A wedding photographer’s dream! Don’t get me wrong, it’d be gorgeous in summer too, but there’s something about a candlelit ceremony in this setting.
If you’ve booked a Woolas Barn wedding and are looking for a photographer who loves the space as much as you, get in touch. I can’t wait to hear from you!
