Calling all couples searching for their dream luxury wedding venue in the north east. Today, I’m spilling the beans on my top 5 wedding venues owned by The Apartment Group. If you don’t know of them, The Apartment Group own a lot of boutique and unique wedding venues around the north. Their ceremony rooms are some of the best I’ve ever seen, and they always put so much effort into making their wedding reception and outdoor spaces beautiful. Each has it’s own personality and vibe, so let’s delve into my favourite!
1. Le Petit Chateau: A French Fairytale in Northumberland
Prepare to be whisked away to a French fairytale at Le Petit Chateau, in the heart of Northumberland. This venue is a true gem, boasting a breathtaking Belle Époque chapel, the iconic pink exterior, and hidden riverside spots. This venue feels really luxurious, but has is still quirky and a bit different. I always love shooting here as that ceremony room, and the exterior of the chapel are totally iconic.

Location: Otterburn, Northumberland
2. Runa Farm
I don’t think I’m cheating by having my own wedding venue in this list – it’s just the dreamiest space! Runa Farm is a boho, rustic getaway tucked away in the countryside of Durham. I immediately fell in love with it’s destination wedding feel and earthy decor. The Apartment Group certainly give all their venues a breathing ceremony space, but Runa probably has my favourite. The staircase was a big draw for booking this venue (it’s not as scary to walk down as it looks). This is the more relaxed venue of their portfolio.
Location: Barnard Castle, County Durham
3. The Croft
Another of The Apartment Group’s newer north east luxury wedding venues, The Croft is a cosy little boutique hotel near Darlington. The hotel is a historic Grade-II listed building and named after the village it sits in, Croft-on-Tees. The ‘secret garden chapel’ has huge antique doors, floor to ceiling mirrors, and a cascading willow tree to stand under while you say your vows. The aisle is like a stroll through a romantic garden with super cute floral bushes. After the ‘I dos,’ you get to kick back in the garden suite which reminds me of a sweet french bistro. It’s a lovely space, all beautifully done up, and the sliding doors let you bring a bit of the outdoors inside.

4. Whitworth Hall
Whitworth Hall, nestled amidst nature’s embrace, offers a unique blend of elegance and tranquility. With its stunning grounds, picturesque lakes, and timeless architecture, this venue is a haven for couples seeking a touch of sophistication in a natural setting. Whitworth Hall is where your wedding day becomes a seamless fusion of luxury and the serenity of the great outdoors.
Location: Spennymoor, County Durham
5. Grand Villa Heights
The newest kid on the block, Grand Villa Heights was previously the Raven Hall Hotel, but it’s been completely revamped. It sits above the gorgeous Robin Hoods Bay, outside of Whitby. The main reception room overlooks the bay – it definitely steals the show for venue with a view. Like Runa Farm, this venue in particular takes me far away, to a destination wedding in say Mallorca or Greece. It’s giving all the seaside vibes but with bohemian glamour. It’s so new, there aren’t many photos yet, but they are now hosting open days.
Location: Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire
Affordable north east luxury wedding venues
They might all be decked out in luxury styles, but The Apartment group sells themselves on ‘affordable luxury’. Peak summer dates will set you back a bit, but they offer amazing discounts on out of season dates. And as we know, these days, wedding season is definitely not just summer. Since COVID, the rule books have been thrown out the window and couples are getting married all year round. I had a winter wedding myself and LOVED it. It’s definitely worth asking what offers they are doing.
If you’re getting married at any of these venues, pop me a message! I love them all 🙂
