As a Shropshire wedding photographer, I’m bringing some colour to January by sharing this phenomenal editorial at Walcot Hall! It’s bright, bold and inspirational. As well as that, it features some incredible outfits! Keep reading to see the photos, and get all the information you need for a Shropshire wedding here!
History of the hall
The hall is a Georgian gem hidden away in the hills of the Shropshire countryside. Originally owned by Clive of India, it has it’s own chapel, arboretum and lots of fun accommodation across the estate.
One of the biggest draws of this unusual venue is it’s unique turquoise ballroom. In fact, I first discovered Walcot Hall after seeing photos of this reception room, and had wanted to shoot there ever since!
With no weddings over the summer, I spent the time shooting workshops and wedding editorials to keep myself busy and creative. When I saw Photography Farm was hosting a workshop here, I jumped at the chance! I’m so glad I did, some of these images are my favourite of the year. Keep reading to see them!
A Shropshire Wedding Photographer’s dream!
This Shropshire wedding venue has a bit of everything! It’s got a grand country house feel but with extra sparkle. Around every corner is something waiting to be discovered. For a Shropshire wedding photographer, it has endless options for fun backdrops and props!
Wedding Ceremonies at Walcot Hall
This venue has so many options for your ceremony. The main hall, ball room, and the anteroom are all licensed for ceremonies. The range of rooms mean you can cater for guests from 50 – 150. At the same time, there’s also incredible outdoor areas.
If you’re having a humanist or celebrant ceremony, you could venture into the gardens for a stunning outdoor event. I personally loved this grotto ceremony setup in the garden.
This floral installation by Pheasant Botanica, has got to be one of the most eye catching floral decorations I’ve ever seen! As can be seen, it really pops against the grotto backdrop and adds so much colour!
Wedding Receptions at Walcot Hall
The unique turquoise ballroom is one of the biggest draws of this West Midlands wedding venue. I honestly have never seen anywhere like it! In addition, this beautiful room is perfect for 100 – 120 guests. However, it can also cater up to a whopping 200 party people!
This delicate dining setup was the brain child of Valentina at The Stars Inside. The theme is based on the Little Mermaid and is pure magic! The table runner and silks are from Pompom Blossom and are paired with stationery from Mathilda Lundin. That was coupled with table linen from Gaia Bespoke Linen. There was also an ocean inspired cake by the Sweetest Thing Cakery, complete with dry ice! A hugely talented team came together to create this wedding editorial. All their credits and links are at the bottom of this post!
Furthermore, the ballroom opens out to a secluded courtyard, or the pretty gardens. In summer they’re full of flowers, fun nooks and lots of shaded areas perfect for portraits.
The Chapel
One of the things that first caught my eye about this venue was it’s Victorian chapel! I love how it feels like an old time church in the USA. It’s a great spot for couple’s portraits and you can even stay there. What a place to spend your first night as a married couple!
Packages and prices at Walcot Hall
Packages vary in price from £3,500 – £6,500 depending on the dates you would like to book for. Walcot Hall offers a 48 hour hire period, so you can take full advantage of the estate! There are lots of accommodation options for guests, and with such huge grounds I imagine spending the whole weekend there would be incredible.
