On the blog today is the type of wedding that just makes me love being a London wedding photographer! Georgia and Ruh had their indian wedding previously, but had a second wedding day to legally marry at Chelsea Town Hall. They then went on to The Chesterfield hotel in Mayfair to have an intimate private dining experience with their closest friends and family. Keep reading for a truly stylish London wedding with a show stopper of a bridal outfit. Think pearls and a heck of a train!
Bridal prep at the Chesterfield Mayfair
Georgia was my dream kind of client as she had laid out all her little details ready for when I arrived. I love it when my brides do this as it means I don’t miss anything and I can just get straight into it. The Chesterfield was a beautiful place to get ready with it’s quintessentially English decor and old luxury feel. It’s also a great place to get ready for a Chelsea Town Hall or Marylebone wedding as it’s only around a 10 minute drive to either venue (if traffic is good!).
Once both Georgia and Ruh were ready, in true London style we jumped in a black cab to take us down to Chelsea Town Hall.
Chelsea Town Hall wedding ceremony in the Brydon Room
The Brydon Room at Chelsea Town Hall is by far my favourite of rooms in the building. It’s super light and feels majestic – although rightly so as royalty has married in there.
My top tip for Chelsea is to always arrive on time! Registry offices are back to back and you don’t want to miss your spot. Also have someone organised to be in charge of your music – lots of couples forget!
After the ceremony, we popped out onto the infamous town hall steps for a confetti moment! As a London wedding photographer I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been on these steps now.
London wedding photography: Movie-esque portraits
As everyone else headed off to the Chesterfield for some celebratory drinks, we spent some time on the Mayfair streets for some couples portraits. These iconic streets are just what you’d seen in some London rom-com, and I was fully embracing it! The whole vibe was just elegant, chic and trendy – I was in my element capturing some editorial style shots.
For wedding portraits in the city, we can spend just 10 minutes on the streets and capture plenty of lovely shots. I like to try a few different backdrops to create a variety of images, but we don’t have to stay away from the party for long. I loved this street with the Union Jack flags and pop of colour from the hotel awning. With Georgia’s incredible train and veil, I also wasn’t going to miss out on the chance to do this shot:
Intimate wedding reception at the Chesterfield in London
After we’d done some photos outside, we headed into Georgia and Ruh’s intimate wedding dinner. They’d hired a private dining space which was absolutely beautiful. Little did the guests know, but they also had a little surprise! Each guest had a little envelope as part of their place settings – an ultrasound scan! Georgia announced it during her speech and I nearly cried watching everyone’s reactions. It was priceless!
Of course, we took the opportunity to do some little wedding day bump shots too. These photos were the perfect end to a beautiful day with this lovely family!
