I’m officially a resident of North Shields!

Well, I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog and social media so far this month, as we finally completed on our house. After moving to Newcastle back in September, we are now officially North Shields residents 🙂

It has been a journey! We originally had another house in Whitley Bay which fell through the week before Christmas. It was a blessing in disguise as it had so much wrong with it and needed an overwhelming amount of work. We spotted this place just a week later and immediately knew we had hit the jackpot. Coming from London, we always knew we wanted to have plenty in walking distance of us, including a beach. Fish Quay ticked all those boxes, so here we are!

My favourite things so far:

  • Daily dog walks on the beach and up to Tynemouth along the sea front. I can genuinely feel my stress leaving my body every time.
  • Planning out with my husband how we’re going to decorate our first married home 🙂
  • Northumberland Square and the new cultural hub on Howard St. It’s such a pretty area!
  • Having awesome breakfast spots in walking distance. Can’t wait to try them all, but so far loving Allards!
  • The views from the top of the Quay on Tyne St
  • Painting my new office

My local North Shields Wedding Venues

It blows my mind but I actually have 3 totally awesome wedding venues within 5 minute walking distance of my house. How lucky am I!

  • North Tyneside Register Office – Where you can do the official bit! This lovely register office is right next to the riverside, and can cater to all sorts of weddings.
  • The Exchange 1856 – A newly refurbed Victorian venue overlooking the Tyne. A perfect combo of historic with modern flair
  • Salt Market Social – Quirky decor, colourful walls and they know how to throw a party. If it’s contemporary and alternative you’re looking for, this is the one.

After a really tough and hectic few months, everything feels like it’s coming together in Newcastle! I’m also absolutely stoked that I’ve had so many wedding bookings in and around NCL for this summer. I knew it would take myself a while to get established in a new place, so wasn’t expecting to have my 2024 calendar half full with weddings here. Super exciting! The other half is mostly around London and the south east – this summer is going to see lots of road trips. Bring on wedding season!
