Oh my gosh, do I have a stunning Hertfordshire barn wedding for you today! Jenna and Dan were married at Coltsfoot and always I love being a wedding photographer and coming here. You’re going to want to see this great day! Their colour palette and decor was just gorgeous.
One of the reasons I got so excited about this wedding, was not just because it was at Coltsfoot. They hired Two Girls and Some Flowers as their florist and I knew to expect amazing things. We’d worked on this autumn wedding shoot at Coltsfoot before, and I always love working with them! Keep scrolling to see how they transformed the venue!
Jenna & Dan were super relaxed about their day and wanted a lovely laidback affair. The whole day focused less on traditions and more just themselves and their guests having a super fun day!
Bridal prep at Coltsfoot wedding venue
Jenna got ready with her bridesmaids in one of the retreat bedrooms, while Dan got ready in Coltsfoot’s new shepherds hut. I love this little spot, but more on that later! The bedroom was lovely, full of natural light and spacious enough for a gang of bridesmaids all to get ready.
Covered wedding ceremony at Coltsfoot
It was a beautiful summers day in Hertfordshire so Jenna & Dan married in the foyer of the barn with their guests covered in the courtyard. At each side of the aisle was a huge floral arrangement, and flowers were tied to the chairs adding a touch of colour.
Following the ceremony, everyone headed straight into the terrace for reception drinks. It was Pimms o’clock and there was a live saxophonist for entertainment.
After Jenna & Dan had mingled and chatted to guests, we snuck off for a bit to do their wedding portraits. I was super keen to use the hidden garden area by the Shepherds Hut. It honestly felt like we could have been in Tuscany or Greece, especially with the heat that day!
Coltsfoot wedding photography: Portraits
Finally, we walked back to the barn where Two Girls and Some Flowers had also provided a lovely hexagonal backdrop!
Travel themed wedding breakfast & lawn games
The theme of the wedding was travel and the decor featured tables named from South America and regional wine to match! The colours were bright and vibrant, and the florals brought this out too.
Also, on the piano were a collection of photo frames to remember loved ones who couldn’t be there celebrating with Jenna and Dan. I always think this is such a lovely idea to honour those who have passed.
After dinner and speeches, the guests spilled back out onto the lawn for lawn games! It was a gorgeous hot evening so everyone was keen to get stuck in. Games are a great idea for entertainment and getting people mingling with each other at weddings.
It was one of those lovely evenings where guests stayed out well until the sun had gone making the most of the warm weather!
