This might be my last blog of 2024 so I’m wrapping up the year with a goodie! Today is Lois and Ben’s vibrant Newcastle Civic Centre wedding and their after party at Tyne Bank Brewery 🙂 You’re in for a colourful and modern treat today (with doggos included too 🐶). So let’s get into it!
Newcastle Civic Centre civil ceremony
Newcastle Civic Centre itself is a 1960s building and almost feels stuck in a time warp, which I actually love! The whole thing felt like walking into Mad Men. However, it doesn’t feel rundown in the slightest. It’s really well kept and just has loads of nice vintage features.
It has options for intimate ceremonies (less than 4), or larger occasions. Lois and Ben booked the lovely Leazes Room which can hold up to 50 guests for a wedding ceremony. It’s a lovely light and bright room, beautiful for a wedding ceremony.
Lois and Ben walked down the aisle together, before having a short but lush ceremony in front of their closest family.
One of my favourite things about weddings at the Newcastle Civic Centre is the grand entrance with the red staircase and chandeliers. If the weather was bad, you could definitely use this space to get some cool couples photos 🙂 It’s super dramatic and makes a real statement.
There’s a nice bit of greenery outside the civic centre for some group shots, or you can use the more brutalist architecture. We did some quick confetti and snaps, and then our plan was to head to the colourful Ouseburn for some couples photos. Now here’s a tip: Get large, colourful confetti! It makes such a difference to your photos ❤️🔥
Alternative wedding photography in Ouseburn
Before everyone headed off to an intimate lunch, we had planned to take a little detour around Ouseburn for some photos. Lois and Ben wanted some untraditional shots around there with their beloved doggos as well! My kind of dream – lots of colour, and pups included!
There’s lots of everchanging street art in Ouseburn, so you never know exactly what you’ll get. However, there’s a little area right around the canal where you can get some great photos if it’s not too busy! I absolutely love the photos we got here. They’re so vibrant and sum up this city wedding so well. I loved the pup’s little outfits too.
Tyne Bank Brewery wedding after party
After leaving the gang for a few hours, I joined back up with everyone at Tyne Bank Brewery for the wedding after party. I’d been super excited about this evening! They booked Hip Hop Hooray as the band who sounded amazing, and hired a Scream for Pizza truck for their food choice. Love it!
This was actually my first time shooting a wedding at Tyne Bank Brewery and it didn’t disappoint 🙂 I love the space! It’s so versatile you can really make it your own, and I loved what Lois & Ben had done. They went for a super colourful disco vibe, with colourful bunting hanging from the ceiling and orange and pink flowers around the room. It looked so cool! If you want a similiar set up, you need to get in touch with the incredible Imaginarium.
The doggos couldn’t make it, but Lois and Ben came prepared with massive cut out heads for the dancefloor. They were absolutely brilliant! Hip Hop Hooray kept the party going and the dancefloor was full for the whole evening. My kinda party.
I adore it when couples do their wedding their own way, and Lois and Ben certainly did that! They wanted a fun, laid back day and this was exactly that. This was such an enjoyable wedding to be a part of! Whatever your wedding looks like, I can create bespoke packages for anything your plans may hold. If you’re having a Newcastle Civic Centre or city wedding then just get in touch and pop me a message. I’d love to hear all about your plans 🙂
