Today on the blog, I’m sharing a pretty seasonal pre-wedding shoot at Grey’s Court in Henley. When Madalina and Tom said they wanted to do their Oxfordshire engagement shoot at Greys Court, my heart lept. It sounded like a charming venue in autumn, and is a special location for Madalina & Tom.

A day after their one year engagement anniversary, I met Madalina and Tom at Grey’s Court for their shoot. This was the location they’d got engaged, which is why they thought it was only fitting to do their pre-wedding photography here!

Greys Court, a gorgeous Oxfordshire engagement shoot location
As far as an Oxfordshire engagement shoot location goes, Greys Court had plenty of awesome backdrop options for us to use. We started in their walled garden which had plenty of covered walkways and cute little hideaways.

As on all my shoots, I like to try lots of different backdrops and poses. Engagement shoots are when I get to hang out with my couples, see how they are on camera, and get them used to it! It’s often our first time meeting, so I’ll try lots of poses to see what comes naturally and what doesn’t. I then know what works and use this on your wedding day!

We went back to the very spot Tom proposed to Madalina and did some shots there, before ending the shoot in front of the magnificent house.

Autumn engagement shoot in golden hour
I love to use nature in my images and my favourite sequence of images from these shoot were captured amongst these colourful trees. We had timed their engagement shoot so the light was golden and streaming through the trees behind Madalina and Tom. Beautiful!

For an Oxfordshire engagement shoot, Greys Court really did make a perfect location. We went quite near the start of autumn, but there were a few trees with their early colours on show. We definitely made the most of those! It’s just a shame they don’t also do weddings!

Cute idea for a book lover’s couples shoot
Madalina is an avid reader (check out her Instagram), and even bought a book with her to use in the shoot. Love it!

I cannot wait for their autumn wedding at beautiful Woodhall Manor in Suffolk next year!
