London Wedding Photographer: The stories behind my 2019 Instagram Top 9

Whoop, it’s that time of year where everyone shares their Instagram Top 9. In January I rebranded and this came with launching a whole new Instagram profile. Thank you to all of you who came along and followed me, and liked my posts 14.7K TIMES!!  That’s insane isn’t it?!

And here’s what you loved the most:

Instagram top nine images of 2019

I decided I would share the story behind each shot! So here goes.. starting at #1

  1. Jo & Liz at Woolwich Town Hall

Jo-Liz-Wedding-Day

Jo & Liz’s wedding was the first time I had shot at Woolwich Town Hall and I knew before I got there I wanted to get a shot like this. We did some group shots on the step and then managed to quickly take some portraits while the atrium was empty. I absolutely love this shot of these two looking so happy and relaxed! Also, total outfit goals.

2. Runaway Brides at Lodge Farm

Runaways-RMW-20

It looks like you guys love a bouquet in the air shot! This was one of my absolute favourite shots from the only styled shoot I organised this year – Runaways at the Barns at Lodge Farm. This shoot was celebrating the wild west, with some english twists. I’ve used Katie (left) as a model before and she brought her friend Claire along as a last minute partner. And don’t they look ace together? You can see the full shoot here.

3. Katie at Longton Wood

A bride stood in the leaves at Longton Wood

Yep, here’s the first time I met Katie and used her as a model for my autumnal shoot at beautiful Longton Wood! We had some last minute dropouts for this shoot, so it nearly didn’t happen, but we managed to still pull something together and I am so proud of it! Autumn is one of my favourite times to shoot and you can see why with the leaves on the ground. On the day, we set up a little armchair area with this oriental rug in the middle of the dirt track road into Longton Wood. A rug is the perfect accessory for adding a little something to any wedding venue! See the full shoot here.

4. Sam & Phil’s Engagement Shoot – Greenwich Park

Engagement Shoot in Greenwich Park

This shoot feels an age ago now (summer 2018), but I’m glad you guys are still loving it. This was Sam and Phil’s engagement shoot in Greenwich Park. For this shot I had to crawl into the foliage and crouch down while trying not to get grass up my shorts! I loved the movement of the wind in the grasses with the pair of them silhouetted against the sun going down. It turned out perfectly. See the engagement here.

5. Me in Wanstead

When I rebranded, I wanted to share more images of me on the grid. However, the irony is that there as a photographer are so few images of me floating about – I’m always behind the camera, not in front of it! I had to ask my other half to come on a walk with me around our neighbourhood of Wanstead so he could take pictures of me. This one is pretty old now – I think I’ve had about 3 haircuts since this! However, I’ve always loved how my Topshop velvet jacket perfectly matches the flowers!

6. Tanya & Claire’s girl gang (and pup)

Tanya and Claire were married in 2018 at the beautiful Dummer Down Farm – they had the most lovely ceremony right in a wooded copse. The day was blisteringly hot as it was the year we had the amazing summer. I had gone to get some photos of the Tipi setup while my second shooter, Alex, got this shot of the girls. She did a great job. More puppers at weddings as well please! This little guy walked down the aisle and everything. See the full wedding here.

7. Sam & Phil’s engagement shoot in Greenwich

Rock'n'roll bride engagement shoot

It’s Sam & Phil again! This was an absolutely roasting hot day – I remember getting stuck in traffic in the Blackwall Tunnel on my way here and thinking I would be a disgusting mess by the time I got out the car for the shoot! We got to Greenwich Park as the sun started to go down. You know me, I love a sunset shoot. Engagement shoots are so important for seeing how my couples act in front of the camera – these two were naturals and super sweet with each other! Just going to take a minute to appreciate Sam’s gorgeous hair do as well!

8. Emma & Miguel in Lucerne, Switzerland

Engagement Shoot in Lucern

Emma & Miguel live in Switzerland so I was super lucky to travel out there for their engagement shoot! I was up at about 5am to get my flight and then these two darlings showed me around their home town. As always, my favourite shots of a shoot are the totally spontaneous ones. One of the two was telling a bad joke and it led to this beautiful moment. See more of their engagement in Switzerland here.

9. Nathalie & Adam (and Corky)

Denbies Wine Estate engagement shoot

When I did my rebrand in January, I held a competition with Wonderland Invites where you could win an engagement shoot with me. Nathalie and Adam (and little Corky) were my winners! These two were absolute troopers as we were shooting on a chilly February day – I swear the sun had been shining all day until we arrived at Denbie’s Wine Estate for this shoot, when it immediately went super cold. My favourite thing about this shot is Corky getting in on the action and looking up at Nathalie and Adam. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in July.. and go back to Denbie’s to do this shoot again, but in the summer! It looks like I should actually blog this engagement shoot as you seem to have been loving it!

Well, those are the stories behind my Instagram Top 9. What are your favourites? What would you like to see more of on my Instagram profile in 2020? What does your Instagram Top 9 look like?
