This year I have been really inspired by creatives on social media, and astounded by the talent I've come across. One of these talents was Jenna, Director at Wonderland Invites. Having stumbled across her on Instagram, I sent her a message introducing myself, and next thing I know we are planning a styled shoot together.
As recommended stationer at Houchins wedding venue in Essex, Jenna had managed to pin us down a shoot day in early May. As soon as she sent me the link to the venue I fell in love - the outdoor areas, the converted farmhouse and rustic feel were exactly what I was hoping for. It fell right into place with the style we were going for. With a few minor bumps in the road, shoot day rolled around and we had a huge team of incredible suppliers on board. Having never met any of them, and this being my first styled shoot I was pretty nervous and not sure what to expect.
It turns out I had no reason to be nervous. Everyone could not have been any more supportive and generous. We all got stuck in and I am so proud of what we achieved on that day.
The theme was based around powder blue - such a stunning pastel you can't say no to. We were soon inspired and built up a colour palette and boho styling guide around it. Rock The Day Styling , Anthology Vintage Hire, Kate Cullen and Vintage Garden Weddings all came together to deliver the perfect details and setups for the day. We had a head table set up, loaded with a thrifted blue table runner, rose gold cutlery and my personal favourites: vintage Babycham glasses!
Outside Vintage Garden Weddings did a spectacular picnic set up featuring hand made blankets, perfectly co-ordinated pillows and jam jars in a wisteria tree. I also found a rustic cart on the grounds so we used that as a location for Lucky and Co's delicious sweet treats, alongside boho dreamcatchers from Vintage Garden Weddings.
One of my favourite spots at Houchins was the fairy lit wall in the main space, which makes for the most ideal backdrop for portraits - especially if you play around with bokeh! I also absolutely loved the cottage next door, so we made sure we ended the day with some portraits on the steps there.
Our model was lovely Tiger Love Bird, wearing a stunning Naomi Neoh gown, hair from Original Button, and make up from Victoria Bradfield. We accessorized with a ring from London Victorian Ring Co, shoes from Emmy London and jewellery from Marolsha. We also had the most perfectly coordinated earrings and hair slide from Marolsha, who makes some truly gorgeous accessories.
The shoot was published on Boho Weddings: check it out here. Full list of suppliers at the bottom of this blog! Enjoy :) - I am so proud to share this!
