My Favourite Wedding Photographs 2016

This year I was honoured to photograph some really special weddings. It's difficult, but I've put together some of my personal favourite shots from the past year of weddings.

1. Starting with my favourite of the year featuring the beautiful Emma. Emma is an old University friend and this one was such a joy to photograph. We had already done portraits and just finished group shots before going into the wedding breakfast when I got this shot. The sun was starting to fade and the lighting in this room, with the fairy lights wrapped around the stairs was catching my eye so I quickly got Emma to sit up on the stairs for me. I am so glad we did! Perfect natural smile too (at her new husband Chris). This captures the joy from the day perfectly.

Venue: The Mill, Elstead

2. This wedding was a special one as my old flat mate Mike married Jo in a beautiful Norfolk wedding. It was the end of October and we only had a narrow time frame to get portraits done as light was limited, but this one immediately stood out for me. A totally natural moment out in the garden, with golden hour creeping up!

Venue: Southwood Hall, Norwich

3. This was taken in Sorrento, at my boyfriend's brother's wedding to Dayna. I was actually a guest at this wedding, but had my camera with me and captured this shot as Dayna and Gary walked into the wedding reception venue to a flurry of confetti. It was shot through people but I love that it makes you focus more on them, and the blue is really striking.

4. Catherine and Richard got married in Wimbledon and this was taken at in Cannizaro Park behind their reception venue (the Du Vin). These guys were hilarious and charming to photograph, and I love the feel of this photo - it feels so secluded, even though we were in a busy park in London.

5. This was taken during the live band at Alice and Rohit's hindu fusion wedding. I absolutely loved this wedding as it was so bright and colourful (my favourite type of wedding), vibrant and fun! These guys know how to party and the dancing carried on until the early hours. I also loved that Alice & Rohit had choreographed their first dance.. to One Direction! Now that is unique!

Venue: Private house & marquee

Wedding planner: Louise Perry Weddings

6. When I was at photographing Jack getting ready for his wedding at his parent's house, his Dad asked if he should get the tractor out. I never thought he meant a real tractor.... I love this shot of him with his grandson who looks so tiny sat up there. Definitely a highlight of the day.

Venue: De Vere Latimer Estate

7. After doing portraits with Mike and Jo, I got a few minutes with Jo while Mike started grabbing people for group shots. The sun was creating beautiful light across the secret garden at Southwood Hall and it couldn't be wasted! Jo looks absolutely stunning here and I love the bokeh of the foliage behind in that golden light.

Venue: Southwood Hall, Norwich

8. The last wedding of the year for me was Luke & Helen's, at Hertford Castle. Autumn is by far my favourite season to shoot in, and while doing portraits around the river I had to capture this shot of Helen - the colours co-ordinate so well, and her hair is divine! A lovely angelic and pure moment amongst a busy day - this feels like a moment of peace and contemplation, so thank you Helen for allowing me to get this shot.

There are so many other photographs it is so hard to pick out just these few, but these are what immediately struck me. Can't wait to get shooting in 2017.
